Best free customer feedback software

Gathering customer feedback is an essential part of growing a business. Only by asking your customers can you discover what they love about doing business with you, and where you can improve. But if you’re venturing out into this area of marketing for the first time, you might not want to invest too heavily in a software platform that might not yield results.

That’s why we think it’s better to start off with a free platform for your first go. Finding a free customer feedback platform can be tricky as it seems like all of the really well-known brands charge an arm and a leg! Well, the good news is that there are a few free options out there.

You’ll notice that Review Tui isn’t on the list below. We thought it would be a bit cheeky to write a list of the best free customer service platforms and put ourselves at the top of the list. If you want to try out our free customer feedback tools then you’re more than welcome. But if you don’t like the look of what we have on offer then these free alternatives should also do the trick (but check us out first!).

So, without further delay, here are some of the top free customer feedback platforms available.

SurveyMonkey

This is probably the most famous free survey tool available on the internet. If you haven’t made or taken a SurveyMonkey survey at some stage then we can only assume that you’ve been too busy living in the jungle with real monkeys to see this digital one. It’s intuitive (to a degree), easy to access and yes, it’s free. You’re limited as to how many responses you can gather but for a small business the 40 or so they let you gather might be enough.

There are paid versions out there if you want some fancy extras but you can get by quite well without needing to spend a dime. One of the catches is that the surveys have SurveyMonkey branding on them but that’s to be expected. You’re using the platform for free, the least they can get from it is some free advertising!

It's also worth noting that SurveyMonkey is a survey tool, not a customer feedback platform. This means you'll miss out on features like performance scoring and easily featuring the feedback in marketing, should you wish.

Google forms

If you want free and basic then you can’t go wrong with Google forms. You might need to create a Google account to use it, and the reporting is pretty basic but if all you need is for people to submit their responses then this is probably going to be good enough. We don’t recommend it for gathering any form of valuable feedback as you can’t measure scores or look for patterns without manually utilising spreadsheets but it makes the list as it’s free.

In its most standard form, you ask questions and add boxes for people to submit their responses. It doesn't integrate with any other platforms and the response types are very basic. If you want anything like slider or shuffler type questions then you’re out of luck. Free and no-frills are exactly what you get with Google forms and, as with SurveyMonkey, we're stretching the definition of 'customer feedback tools' with this inclusion.

Survey Sparrow

This one is similar to SurveyMonkey in that you’re limited to a certain number of responses each month on the free version. You’re also limited to the number of questions you can ask per survey (10 at the time of writing). However, you can embed your survey on a page and it does integrate with HubSpot, which is handy if you use that particular market-leading CRM.

This one is a great choice if you’re looking to expand over time as you can unlock cool features as you upgrade. As it stands, the free version comes with a Slack integration, Google Analytics integration, unlimited users, and 100 responses per month.

Jotform

It seems like a little while since Jotform has come across our radar. Popular as an alternative website form, this is a great solution if you want to embed a good-looking form on your website. That’s the caveat with Jotform, it’s slightly more geared towards a web form than a traditional survey and customer feedback tool but it gets a mention as it’s free and easy to use!

The free plan allows you to have 5 forms, 100 monthly submissions, 1,000 form views, and 100 fields per form. That’s a lot better than some of the other free platforms (although not quite as good as us).

Qualtrics XM

Having bought Delighted a little while ago, Qualtrics is very much an Enterprise-level solution. During the covid pandemic, however, it did expand its free offering to include a survey maker. You get unlimited access to the survey tool and this includes the ability to create a single free survey with 8 question types and 100 responses per month.

You do get access to over 50 survey templates, which is a real bonus if you don’t know where to begin! Because Qualtrics is trusted by some of the world’s biggest brands you know there’s some really good software underpinning the free survey you choose to build.

Typeform

Enabling you to create stunning forms easily, this is perfect if a visually-exciting free survey tool is important to you. The free version of the software comes with some limitations, but not as many as some. You can only have one user but you can create an unlimited number of forms. You can have 10 questions per form and gather 10 responses per month. That last bit is a little on the low side when compared with some of the options we’ve already listed.

However, there are a few more bells and whistles on the free version. You can create hidden fields, for instance, and there’s basic branching logic available. You do get a good number of integrations available with the free version of Typeform, however, so this is a better option than most if you have a pre-existing tech-stack you’re integrating with.

So there you have it, that’s our selection of some of the best free customer feedback tools available on the market at the moment. Obviously, we deserve a spot on this list but hey, you’re already on our website so could easily check us out if you wanted to. We’re looking to launch our innovative customer feedback platform later this year so feel free to sign-up by clicking the button below.

If, however, you need something now and cannot wait then we recommend you check out one of the options above!
